Many years ago I ran into an old friend who I hadn’t seen in a very long time.
When we saw each other, because the last time we saw each other we were both around 12 years old, we were both shocked that we could still recognise each other and he said something that stuck in my mind but I let it slide.
He said, “You haven’t changed.”
He was referring to the fact that he could still recognise my facial features even though we were now grown ups and the last time we saw each other we were only kids.
He meant well, however I did not like that statement.
For starters, when he last saw me I was a Catholic. However, at the time I was standing in front of him that was ancient history. I had long been a New Creature.
2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Not only had the years gone by and my knowledge & understanding about God changed but I was no longer the same species of creature that he once knew when we where both kids.
Looking at me and saying that I haven’t changed because of the fact that my facial features where still recognisable to someone who had last seen me as a child sat badly with me.
Later that same day as we were talking, I talked to him about Christ and my relationship with Christ.
He was still a Catholic but I suppose because we were we were both Catholics once and also because of The Spirit Of God he let me continue talking to him about God from a perspective that was completely outside Catholic doctrine.
As the presence of God grew stronger, conviction flowed into his heart and he believed what I was saying.
I lead him in the Salvation Prayer and in a prayer to receive The Holy Ghost.
He had previously interrupted me and used an inhaler for his Asthma in front of me before we started praying.
So after leading him to Christ I told him I would like to pray for him about the Asthma. I told him that after I do he’ll be healed forever and never need an inhaler again in his life.
He didn’t object and that was my cue.
I didn’t wait for a verbal affirmation. I prayed a prayer of faith.
After I prayed, I asked him to do what he couldn’t do before. I asked him to check his breathing.
I noticed the look of surprise on his face. The more he breathed in and out, the more excited he got.
As a matter of fact, under normal circumstances he would have needed to use his inhaler again during that period we were sitting together, but now he was healed.
I laughed and reminded him of his statement that I haven’t changed.
Ha! Ha! the old friend he once knew wasn’t performing miracles. Was he?
He sure wasn’t.
That entire day he didn’t use his inhaler for the rest of the day.
The next day the occasion also didn’t rise for him to use his inhaler.
Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months and now its been years he still doesn’t need an inhaler.
You see, the Christian is one who changes every time we encounter The Word Of God.
We are changed. We are transformed into the image that we see in The Word.
The more we read our bible with our spirits the more like Jesus we become.
It is an insult for a Christian to remain the same. We don’t remain the same.
Some Christians don’t know that they are not supposed to be the same person they were yesterday.
You are supposed to change every single day, and sometimes; many times during the day.
We are constantly being changed into the image that we see in the Word every time we digest the Word with our spirits.
Become conscious of this frequent changes to make this changes evident in your life.
Let the fruits of this changes be seen. Let it be tangible. Let it change the world around you and affect those around you. Let it take you from glory to glory as you move higher and higher in your knowledge of Christ and The Word.
You cannot be the same person that you were yesterday.
If you are in Christ and have read the bible at least once since yesterday you have changed to be more like the Master than you were yesterday.
2 Corinthians 3:18 KJV
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
